Our History
The History of Hayes Prosthetics is cherished. Original founder, Robert Hayes was straight out of the Marine Corps when he began his career in Prosthetics, a desire to help people was what first sparked his interest as a prosthetist. Robert initiated his career after he ran into a friend who had helped children with polio. He later began his studies at New York and Northwestern Universities. After much commitment to his practice, patients, and professionalism, Robert took part in the development of the National Accreditation Examination. He also served as a past president for the American Board for Certification and The Academy of Orthotics and Prosthetics. In 2001 he was awarded The Distinguished Practitioner. Robert was a man of greatness and passion for his profession.
After more than 50 years of hard work, and dedication, Robert Hayes was proud to get his two Sons, Brian Hayes and David Hayes involved with the family business. Brian Hayes worked at Hayes Prosthetics from 1980-2008. Before Brian’s departure, David became a certified prosthetist and then was mentored by his father and brother for several years making sure to truly hone his craft. Now David Hayes holds the history of Hayes Prosthetics close to him and runs and operates the practice being sure to put his patient’s needs first. David is accredited with multiple certifications with componentry from several manufacturers. After 34 years David has truly mastered the art of prosthetics. Here at Hayes Prosthetics, we pride ourselves on an authentic family business that has a hundred years of combined experience within the prosthetics industry.
